Hidden mold

Mold is quite easy to recognise, by generating black, grey-brown, grey-green, white spots, or even pink or purple splotches on the walls, ceilings, pipes, or other humid elements. However, there are inaccessible places with little or no light and these places attract hidden mold. Actually, hidden mold usually involves the most costly repairs and are caused. The mold can rapidly spread unnoticed inside walls, under floors, above ceilings, and deep into heating and air conditioning vents. And by the time this mold is detected, it can cause thousands of dollars in property damage and pose serious health risks.

You may suspect hidden mold if you smell something moldy in a certain place within the building, but you cannot see the source. If you know there has been water damage or flood and someone in your family has allergy problems, it is very possible that you have hidden mold somewhere. Mold may be hiding in places such as the back side of dry wall, wallpapers, or paneling, the top side of ceiling tiles, the underside of carpets and pads, etc. Other possible locations of hidden mold include areas inside walls around pipes, the surface of walls behind furniture, inside ductwork, and in roof materials above ceiling tiles.

Dark places with high humidity are perfect for hidden mold growth.

Hidden mold grows in places with high humidity and no light.

The first step to eliminate the hidden mold is to track its beginning and thoroughly search the neighbouring area. Then you assess the amount of it, and either try to clean it yourself, or, if the damage is significant, contract a mold removal company that has necessary equipment for effective mold cleanup.
